Millions of people are affected by both varicose and spider veins.

What type of veins do you have?

Varicose Veins: Large twisted and dilated veins

Spider Veins: Small superficial veins that appear close to the surface of the skin.

Millions of people are affected by both varicose and spider veins. While spider veins can be primarily a cosmetic concern, varicose veins are both unsightly and can be painful, causing heavy cramping and discomfort. Because varicose veins are often the result of a chronic vein condition known as venous insufficiency, these unsightly veins tend to increase in number and size over time.

Thanks to new advances in treatment, you no longer have to suffer with either varicose or spider veins! Vein treatment options at The Delaware Vein Center can alleviate both the pain and unsightly appearance.

The Delaware Vein Center treats venous problems and alleviates the symptoms of venous disease, with the goal of always achieving the best health and cosmetic results. Founder and medical director Dr. Henry Childers established the Delaware Vein Center as a full service facility dedicated to the treatment of venous disorders. Dr. Childers is a board certified cardiothoracic surgeon with nearly two decades of experience in vein disease and vein treatment. His specific training combined with his finely honed procedural skills ensures patients who receive our vein treatment receive successful and lasting results.

The center offers innovative and comprehensive vein treatments for the elimination of venous insufficiency and its symptoms including varicose veins and spider veins. Minimally invasive procedures, like endovenous laser ablation (EVLT) are performed in-office under local anesthesia to completely numb the vein before treatment, making it virtually painless.

The process is delivered through a tiny nick in the skin to avoid scarring. No stitches are needed to close the small nick so there is no downtime. Patients are up on their feet immediately following the procedure. This procedure makes traditional surgery for varicose veins obsolete, avoiding hospitalization and general anesthesia as well as large incisions and long recoveries.

EVLT uses heat to permanently shrink and collapse the abnormal vein, thereby leaving it in place without surgically removing the vein. Laser energy is delivered through a tiny laser fiber inserted into the targeted varicose vein. Most patients will be free of the symptoms that they had formerly suffered beginning the next day, Malinowski said.
